WENTZVILLE (KMOV) – The City of Wentzville takes action to combat bullying within and outside the school district.

“This has been going on since I was a child. The intimidation has been going on for many years, but there comes a point when it is no longer intimidation, but an attack, ”says Wentzville Mayor Nick Guccione.

The mayor is partnering with local aldermen to hold a public safety town hall at City Hall on Saturday. Parents and students are asked to be present and give evidence and possible solutions.

“We will not let something that harms children get out of hand, and I think this is a really good step in the right direction,” says board member Trisha Burns.

A video of a high school student being attacked in June is one of many bullying incidents that have caught the city’s attention.

“It wasn’t just at school. My family member was attacked in 8th grade,” says Byrne.

“We will constantly monitor what is happening. If you hear anything, don’t be afraid to say it,” says Guccione.

The city plans to pass on Saturday’s meeting proposals to the school board.
