‘Ek Villain Returns’ trailer
Review of ‘Ek Villain Returns’
The story of director Mohit Suri’s film is simple, but it has many twists. Even the last frame has a twist. The story of the film flows in many streams. In such a situation, a little more effort had to be done on the editing table to tie it together. If this was the case, then there would have been a good balance in the first and second half of the film. The story needed a little more twist. Then it would have become a more entertaining, romantic thriller film. It seems that the writer’s focus has shifted a bit from the main characters of the film in the pursuit of bringing speed to the screenplay and making the dialogues strong. The effect of this has been that the characters do not seem to be connected to each other.
Apart from this, there is one more thing that goes wrong in the film. There is a negativity towards women in this, which could have been removed. The effect of this is that the story moves away from what it wants to say about love, separation, rejection of love and the pain caused by it. The characters of Shaad Randhawa and JD Chakraborty should have worked a little more. The film has seen a lot of police action. It would have proved better if it had been threaded into the story in a better way.
The song ‘Galiyan’ from the previous film proved to be a super hit. In this sequel film, you get to hear the new version of the song again and again, which feels good. But apart from this, there is no other song that leaves an impact. In such a situation, it misses as a romantic thriller. The rest of the songs in the album are also good, but they do not leave an impact like ‘Galiyan’.
The acting of anyone in the lead cast of the film is not such, which is discussed separately. Most of the actors have done what they have been doing. The share of the rest of the fellow cast members is also not much. Everyone has got work in a limited canvas. If these characters were given a little more chance, then the actors would have got a chance to show something good on a personal level. Overall, ‘Ek Villain Returns’ has many twists and turns in terms of romantic-thriller, but the characters of the film or their story do not make you happy.
