The mother and stepfather of a 6-year-old Southern California boy who died last week have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and murder after he was found with wounds all over his body, authorities and sources say. court documents.
The boy was not breathing when officers responded to a home in Barstow on the evening of September 14, police said.
The child was airlifted to hospital, where he died, the Barstow Police Department said in a statement.

“The child was found to have numerous wounds all over his body which were found to be suspicious and indicative of trauma,” the statement read.
The boy’s 35-year-old mother and 29-year-old stepfather face charges of murder and assault on a child causing death, according to San Bernardino County court documents obtained by the Los Angeles Times.

“Detectives have determined that the child was in the custody of both parents when the physical abuse and neglect occurred,” the police statement said. “Although the child was injured for some time, he neglected to have the injuries treated by medical professionals.”
