Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook has signed with Excel Sports agent Jeff Schwartz to represent him, Westbrook told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday afternoon.
Last month, Wasserman’s Thad Faucher, Westbrook’s former longtime agent, said he and Westbrook split. Faucher cited “irreconcilable differences” in a statement and suggested Westbrook no longer had perfect alignment with whether the former MVP should stay with the Lakers for the final season of his $47 million contract.
Westbrook is entering the final season of a five-year maximum deal. The 33-year-old averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 78 games last season.
