The upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models are expected to introduce new color options in the current year. Alongside these new variants, Apple is planning to discontinue some existing color choices, particularly for the Pro line of iPhones. According to information from industry sources as reported by 9to5Mac, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a new shade of gray that complements the natural color of the premium titanium build. This new option will replace the gold variant in the iPhone Pro series. Additionally, a dark blue color might be offered for the titanium-based iPhone 15 Pro models, taking the place of the previous deep purple option.
As a result of these changes, the iPhone Pro models will now offer the standard color choices of white and black, which are expected to carry over to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup as well.
Apple has a history of selecting colors that enhance the overall design and frame of its devices. The Pro models, known for their stainless steel frames, usually come in muted colors to accentuate the steel’s reflective quality. In contrast, the regular iPhones, such as the existing iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, come with aluminum frames and are available in more vibrant colors to highlight their appearance.
Interestingly, even the choice of glass and its finish on the rear panel is a deliberate decision. In the case of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, the glass surrounding the dual rear cameras has a matte finish, while the surrounding area is glossy. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have a glossy finish for the glass around their triple cameras, with the rest of the area featuring a matte appearance.
Beyond the introduction of new colors, there are rumors suggesting that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature an innovative display technology. Additionally, there are strong indications that the new iPhone 15 models will come equipped with a USB-C charging port, similar to the one used in iPads.
Furthermore, the Pro models are expected to come with the new A17 Bionic SoC (System on Chip) for enhanced performance. This chipset could potentially unlock advanced camera features, and Apple might also emphasize its gaming capabilities, similar to Qualcomm’s integration of ray-tracing capabilities in the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. Additionally, improved 5G connectivity could be achieved through a new modem from Qualcomm.

Due to the improved build quality and new features, the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models are anticipated to come with a higher price tag this year. Reports suggest that the Pro Max variant’s price could see an increase of up to $200.
Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 series on September 12th.
