For a period, gamers in India faced challenges in obtaining the latest PlayStation 5 by Sony. Discussions about the difficulty of acquiring the console were widespread across various social media platforms. However, the situation took a positive turn in March of this year, officially marking the end of the PS5 shortage in India. Currently, the console is readily available through both online and offline retail channels, often accompanied by various promotional offers extended to customers from time to time.
Exciting news awaits PlayStation enthusiasts: a substantial price reduction is on the horizon for the standard PS5 variant that uses physical discs. Importantly, this reduction isn’t a limited-time or situational discount; it signifies a universal price adjustment. However, this lowered price will only apply at select authorized retailers.
Significant Discount for PlayStation 5
Sony has revealed plans for a flat discount of Rs 7,500 on the disc-based PlayStation 5 version in India, spanning from August 24 to September 2. This exclusive promotional offer will be accessible at all participating outlets, including prominent names like Amazon, Flipkart, Shopatsc, Reliance, Croma, Vijay Sales, and a curated list of retailers. It’s important to note that only the standard disc edition of the console will be available at the discounted rate.

Currently, the disc-based PlayStation 5 version is listed at Rs 54,990 on both Amazon and Flipkart. Notably, earlier this year, the digital edition was priced at Rs 39,990, whereas the disc version was marketed at Rs 49,990. Both variants underwent price increases earlier in the year within the Indian market.
“2023 has proven to be an exceptional year for the PS5, featuring an abundance of captivating games that have kept players engaged. This includes recently launched blockbusters like Hogwarts Legacy and Final Fantasy XVI,” affirmed a press statement from Sony India a few weeks ago. The statement further highlighted the enriching experiences being delivered to the growing PS5 community, emphasizing the PlayStation Plus subscription service and its myriad benefits, such as the Game and Classics Catalog, offering an extensive selection of games. The announcement also teased forthcoming titles for the year, such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and Alan Wake 2.
