President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden called NBC’s coverage of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, but the conversation got off to a rocky start.
NBC’s Dylan Dreyer greeted the president at the start of the segment, but the two sides struggled to connect for about 20 seconds.
“Can you hear me, Mr. President? asked Dreyer.
“We are here,” Biden replied.
“Oh, I was so scared that call wouldn’t go through,” Dreyer said.

The president and first lady finally made a clearer connection and were able to talk about their annual Thanksgiving trip to Nantucket, Massachusetts, where the Bidens met and thanked emergency personnel.
“I want to thank the firefighters and the police, the first responders. They never take a break,” the president said after the connection normalized.

“And God bless our troops for sure,” added Jill Biden.
“And by the way, we’re going to be talking to some of our soldiers later today, here and abroad. I hope everyone remembers them. We remember them every day,” he said. continued Biden. “God bless our troops for real!”
